We built Fingerbot because
the light switch was too far away.

What started as a late-night DIY project in a Sydney apartment became a product trusted by over 5 million homes in 50+ countries.

OUR STORY

A DIY solution that became a movement

It was 2018 in Sydney. Our founder James was lying in bed, too comfortable to get up and turn off the bedroom light. He'd already tried smart bulbs — but they required replacing every fixture, and half his appliances had no smart alternative at all.

So he built one. A tiny mechanical finger, controlled by Bluetooth, that could press any button or switch. He called it Fingerbot.

He shared it on Reddit. The response was overwhelming. Within days, hundreds of people were asking where they could buy one. That's when the Adaprox team was born — a group of designers, engineers, and programmers who believed that making your home smart shouldn't require replacing everything you already own.

We took Fingerbot to Kickstarter in December 2019. The rest, as they say, is history.

The Lightbulb Moment

Late at night in a Sydney apartment, our founder lay in bed realising the light switch was too far away. Rather than get up, he started sketching a tiny mechanical finger that could press it remotely. A weekend DIY project was born.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

Our principles

Born from Real Frustration

We don't build products for the sake of technology. Every Adaprox device started as a genuine personal problem — a light switch too far, a curtain too heavy, a button too inconvenient.

Community-Validated

Every major product launch started on Kickstarter and Indiegogo. We believe in building with our community, not just for them. Their feedback shapes every iteration.

Retrofit, Don't Replace

We believe you shouldn't have to throw away perfectly good appliances to make your home smart. Adaprox makes what you already own smarter — sustainably.
